Authorities arrested the 39-year-old lead singer of Porno para Ricardo at his Havana home on Monday, shortly after the band had completed work on a new album. Cuban law defines "social dangerousness" as behavior contrary to "communist morality," and police use it to detain offenders before they have a chance to commit a crime. Here.

Castro is so old-school. He's not moved into the 90's where the US props up Right Wing thugs like Alberto Fujimori.
Castro is not democratic in the least bit but the previous 400 years of Colonial Rule brought about these strong armed thugs in the Carribean and C. & S. America. In the long run he ain't the worst that's ever been but since he ain't selling his country out for the USA he's on the shit list.
You should bone up on the political school of "Real Politik" and understand US and European aggression in the light of honesty and corporate/investor wants and desires.
The world makes much more sense when you accept that large powers are always brutal to less-developed nations and care nothing about "democracy" if that means losing influence in that country.
Cuba could be a paradise instead of a shithole. All they'd have to do is to allow a few freedoms like freedom of assembly, freedom of speech, etc...things that don't cost a whole lot.
Then the US would undo the bunch that their undies are in and make the Cubans rich.
I work with a 2nd gen. Cuban refugee. That's his recipe for success in Cuba, although ask him if he thinks the ban should be lifted and he'll look at you like you're 6 kinds of fucktard.
If Cuba were to "normalize" relations with the US. They would look like Haiti or any other Carribean carcass in the Atlantic.

Cuba needs to develop a true democratic movement from the inside. Not a bunch of punks paid by the CIA to create chaos.

Hey, look, we don't need the CIA or one single US citizen or operative to step foot in their country. Yes, they can do it themselves. All it would take would be for Raul to say, 'hey, tomorrow, we're going to stop persecuting people for their words, we're going to let people own property, and we're going to get the hell out of the way." In 5 years, the std of living in CUBA would be outstanding.
I'm developing quite an allergic reaction to folks who think we crap all over the world.
We (the US) are a much less brutal force than any other 'super power' seen in world history. We've never killed millions and millions of anybody. Russia, Germany, those regimes were pure evil and to talk about us being like that makes me want to puke.
